MONTREAL — Benoit Gaudet can’t say he never got a break in boxing. The Drummondville, Que., native will be on the sport’s biggest stage Saturday night, fighting in Las Vegas for the WBC super-featherweight title just before what is being billed as the fight of the year – Manny Pacquiao against Ricky Hatton.
“Just being at the MGM Grand – this is the place you want to box – and fighting on HBO makes this very exciting,” Gaudet said Tuesday. “This is like a dream come true.”
Gaudet (20-1 but with only seven knockouts) will face WBC champ Humberto Soto (47-7-2, 30 KOs) of Mexico in the co-feature to Pacquiao-Hatton.
Pacquiao (48-3-2) is rated by The Ring magazine as the world’s best boxer, pound for pound, and is coming off a thorough eight-round victory in December that drove Golden Boy Oscar de la Hoya into retirement…Full Story(CanadianPress)
