The former 1996 US Olympian and 154 pound world champion, Fernando “El Feroz” Vargas, known for his ferocious spirit in the ring and never say die attitude is now putting on a new hat that of fight promoter.
In a recent interview with Visaliatimesdelta, Vargas had this to say about the up coming HBO pay per view bout between Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico and Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines:
“I really think Pacquiao right now is the man to beat,”
“He’s been beating top-notch fighters. I don’t think Cotto will be able to deal with him. Pacquiao is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the game. It should be a good fight, but Pacquiao will win.”
Vargas also hinted at a possible comeback in the near future:
“There have been talks of me coming back, but they’re just talks. But anything is a possibility.”
As for now he has his hands full promoting a November 6 pay per view event at the Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The card will be headlined by former welter weight champion Zab Judah, and the undercard will have Joel Casamayor and Salvador Sanchez Jr to name a few.
