Former cruiserweight and heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield will fight South African Francois Botha for the WBF heavyweight title at Nambole Stadium in Kampala, Uganda on Jan. 16, 2010.
The promoters of the event said that both Evander and Botha have signed the contracts and predict a live audience of 80,000 fans.
“I am very much looking forward to going to Uganda and I expect a tough fight against Francois Botha, I am going to win and I will cherish the WBF world title” expressed Holyfield on Thursday.
Both fighters share similar opponents. Both have faced Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis in the past, Evander holds two victories over Tyson while Botha suffered a KO loss against Tyson. Evander had a controversial draw and rematch loss with Lewis and Botha lost to Lewis by TKO in round 2.
Botha dabbled in K1 kickboxing in Japan over the years but decided to return to boxing in 2009.
