NEW YORK (Jan. 22, 2010) – Promoter Cedric Kushner, president of Gotham Boxing, Inc., announced today that David “Tuanamator” Tua’s last fight will air Jan. 25 (8 PM/ET & 12 midnight) on MSG Plus. Tua (49-3-1, 42 KOs), rated No. 3 by the WBO, fought Shane “Mountain Warrior” Cameron (23-1, 20 KOs) for the WBO Asia Pacific and WBO Oriental heavyweight titles Oct. 3, 2009 in Hamilton, New Zealand.
Billed there as “The Fight of the Century,” the card also featured the Australian heavyweight championship bout between John “Hoppa” Hopoate (12-3, 10 KOs) and Colin “Kid Coalminer” Wilson (34-25-1, 20 KOs). The 2-hour broadcast on MSG will also include action from exciting fights involving light heavyweights Shane “Chopper” Chapman (6-1, 4 KOs) and Soulan Pownceby (12-0, 7 KOs), junior middleweights Steve Heremaia (12-3, 6 KOs) and Frank LoPorte (12-3-2, 5 KOs), cruiserweights Daniel “The Doberman” Ammann (17-2-1, 4 KOs) and Lawrence Tauasa (31-6-1, 18 KOs), cruiserweights Moyoyo Mensah (19-8-1, 9 KOs) and Camden, New Jersey’s Max Alexander (14-4-2, 2 KOs).
Tua has defeated four world champions – Michael Moorer, Hasim Rahman, John Ruiz and Oleg Maskaev – and his next scheduled fight is March 27 against Friday Ahunanya (24-5-3, 13 KOs) in New Zealand
