It looks like the fight that Floyd Mayweather Jr. haters were claiming he would never take after the Pacquiao fight fell out, is now happening.
Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. will take on the true welterweight champion in Sugar Shane Mosley on May 1, 2010, yes you heard that correct, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is fighting Shane Mosley!
Reading different comments saying Floyd is scared of Pacquiao, Floyd didn’t want to fight Pacquiao, Floyd will avoid fighting Shane Mosley, Floyd was looking for a way out of the Pacquiao fight so he brought up Olympic steroid blood testing, all of those reasons are now debunked.
Now we know the truth, it wasn’t Mayweather who looked for a way out, it was Manny Pacquiao, Freddie Roach and Bob Arum who were. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is asking for Shane Mosley to take the same exact randomized blood tests that he wanted for the Pacquiao fight.
According to the news reports Shane Mosley has agreed to take the random USADA Olympic style drug tests.
Mosley admitted to taking performance enhancing drugs in the past, most notably, steroids and EPO he got from Victor Conte and BALCO.
Mosley has nothing to hide so he will oblige and take the tests because he knows the past is the past and he is clean now.
Mayweather was never scared of Pacquiao, Mayweather just wanted to have a clean, fair and equal playing field.
I can’t wait for May 1, 2010 and Mayweather vs. Mosley, this is a real super fight unlike the last minute Pacquiao vs. Clottey match up made for March 13.
Floyd Mayweather proved that he is giving the boxing fans what they want and ask for in facing Shane Mosley. By fighting Mosley he also shows the critics that he was not the one who dodged the Pacquiao fight, in fact Manny Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach dodged Shane Mosley when Mosley offered to fight Pacquiao after the Ricky Hatton fight at 140 pounds.
People need to understand boxing. Boxing is a business as well as a sport and Mayweather Jr. fought the best at 130 and 135 but he didn’t make the money he is now. So Mayweather has to make the biggest fights now and for the most money, it wasn’t that he was scared it’s because he paid his due’s and just like Pacquiao he wants to enjoy the rewards by only fighting the fights that make the most sense financially and boxing wise.
