Joshua “Grand Master” Clottey, lost an uneventful 12-round decision on March 13th to pound for pound king, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, and gave his explanations to why he lost the fight to the Filipino boxing icon.
In an interview with Ghana Joy News, Joshua Clottey believes his lost to Manny Pacquiao, was partly due to having multiple stomach aches and diarrhea after consuming Banku and Okro stew (Ghanaian dish) hours before his fight with Pacquiao.

In another post fight interview with Peace FM, Clottey responded to the criticism given by Ghanaian legend Azumah Nelson, Nelson felt Clottey’s trainer, Lenny De Jesus, didn’t have a good game plan or advice, that is why Clottey lost.
Clottey felt Azumah and former Welterweight champion Ike Quartey should have called him and shown support and encouragement before the fight.
“Wouldn’t it have been nice for Azumah Nelson to call me and give me hope or advise me ahead of my fight? Even the ring announcers asked me whether any of them had called me to advise me or give me hope and I said “NO”. None of them called me”
Clottey continued
“As a technical director of boxing for a country, you failed to call your boxer and advise him or wish him luck ahead of his fight, then after the fight you start making your comments…I don’t need his opinion”
Clottey will take home $3 million dollars and a portion of Pay-Per-View from the Pacquiao fight, his biggest payday ever. His original pay was $1.5 million but Jerry Jones, the Dallas Cowboys owner, added another $1.5 million as a bonus. Pacquiao will take home $12 million and a share of Pay-Per-View revenue.
