On Saturday, March 6, 2010 in Chiapas, Mexico, Popular 19-year-old welterweight Mexican boxing sensation, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (31-0, 23 KO’s), knocked out his opponent, Brian “The Golden Greek” Camechis (19-3, 8 KO’s), in the third round with a perfectly placed left hook right on his Camechis chin.
Saul Alvarez’s next bout will be on the undercard of the May 1st Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Shane Mosley “Who R U Picking?” HBO PPV.
The young boxing star out of Mexico, has set his sights on conquering the welterweight division, and in a post fight interview said he would like to fight the best out there including Manny Pacquiao, Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
“I want to fight all of the big names, Shane Mosley, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather. I can continue to show improvement with each fight.”
Golden Boy Promotions hopes to make Canelo a crossover star, Canelo sell’s out arenas in Mexico and isn’t even a champion yet or old enough to drink. If he can attract the America audience and the Latino market he could be a genuine gold mine for Oscar De La Hoya’s promotional company.
