Mayweather vs. Mosley Fight LIVE – Who R U Picking? will be a display of talent and skill with Mayweather and Mosley meeting in a 12-round battle that is already being compared to other great and historic welterweight match-ups like Sugar Ray Leonard versus Tommy Hearns and Oscar de la Hoya against Felix Trinidad.
“I think this is a fantastic way to see the fight and I am glad to give fans the chance to do it again on May 1 with my fight against Sugar Shane Mosley,” said Mayweather. “Going to the movies is one of my favorite things to do and I actually have a movie theater in my house, too. I can only imagine how great it would be to watch one of my fights on the big screen in high definition. Too bad I will be fighting that night; otherwise I would be there to watch it, too.”
Mayweather vs. Mosley Fight LIVE – Who R U Picking? is the third boxing match broadcast to select movie theaters across the country through NCM’s exclusive Digital Broadcast Network – North America’s largest cinema broadcast network. Fathom and Golden Boy Promotions first teamed up for the highly successful cinema presentation of the Floyd “Money” Mayweather vs. Juan Manuel “Dinamita” Marquez fight on the big screen in September 2009 – the first fight to be shown in movie theaters in over 20 years. Last month, the two companies announced an agreement to continue presenting live world championship boxing on the big screen in high definition throughout 2010 beginning with “The Rivals: Hopkins vs. Jones II” featuring Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins vs. Roy “The Terminator” Jones, Jr. which took place on April 3.
“Watching the fight on the big screen in movie theaters across the country is a fantastic way to experience a mega-fight like Mayweather vs. Mosley Who R U Picking,” said Richard Schaefer, CEO Golden Boy Promotions. “The partnership we have with NCM Fathom is a part of Golden Boy Promotions’ continued efforts to provide sports fans with an unparalleled level of entertainment.”

“Mayweather Promotions is extremely grateful to have another opportunity to bring a big boxing event like Mayweather vs. Mosley to the big screen and theaters throughout the country,” said Leonard Ellerbe, CEO Mayweather Promotions. “Everyone in the theaters that night can expect to see a great night of boxing between two of the best in the sport today.”
Mayweather (40-0, 25 KOs) is thought of by many as the best boxer of this era. Born into a boxing family in Grand Rapids, Mich., Mayweather started boxing at the age of seven. He would go on to compile an 84-6 amateur record while earning three Michigan Golden Gloves titles, three National Golden Gloves titles, PAL and National Championships, and an Olympic Bronze medal in the 1996 Games. Turning pro in the super featherweight division in1996, an undefeated Mayweather faced Genaro Hernandez in 1998, earning the WBC world championship. Mayweather successfully defended his super featherweight title eight times from 1998 to 2001, then won the WBC lightweight championship from Jose Luis Castillo in April 2002. He began facing opponents in the junior welterweight division in 2004 and took the WBC 140-pound championship from Arturo Gatti 2005. Mayweather added the WBC welterweight crown to his resume in a win over Carlos Baldomir in 2006. Following a brief semi-retirement in 2008, he returned to the sport in a dominant 2009 win against the number one Mexican fighter in the world, Juan Manuel Marquez. The bout was purchased in over one million homes—only the fifth non-heavyweight fight to do so – and was broadcast to more than 240 movie theaters nationwide.
Mosley (46-5, 39 KOs) is a welterweight mega-star and five-time World Champion, currently holding the WBA Welterweight World Championship. Mosley has fought his way to world championships at lightweight, welterweight and junior middleweight; earning himself a reputation as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in boxing and becoming a household name. Prior to turning professional, Mosley was a three-time National Amateur champion and an alternative 1992 Olympic team member; compiling an amateur record of over 250 wins. In 1998, Mosley was named "Fighter of the Year” by the Boxing Writers Association of America after defending his IBF lightweight championship title five times, winning all by knockout. He spent much of the early 2000s dominating the welterweight division, as well as taking on opponents in the junior middleweight class; earning both the WBC and WBA junior middleweight titles. In 2008 he scored a stirring last second knockout of former two-division world champion Ricardo Mayorga, to set up his 2009 fight against WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito, in which earned Mosley his sixth world title, the WBA World Welterweight Championship in a dominating knockout win.
“Boxing on the big screen is like sitting ringside for all the excitement. The fight fan experience is second to none,” said Dan Diamond, vice president of Fathom. “With two champions like Mayweather and Mosley squaring off, this bout will be an electrifying welterweight mega-fight from Las Vegas. If you can’t be ringside, you can be a part of the action live with our HD theater experience, offering the biggest and most exciting way to catch a fight.”
