Live on HBO Boxing After Dark, heavyweight contender Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola takes on Polish fighter Tomasz Adamek a former light heavyweight and cruiserweight champion on Saturday, April 24, 11:15 PM ET/PT at Citizens Business Bank Arena, Ontario, California.
Arreola’s (28-1, 25 KOs) only loss was also his first attempt at the heavyweight title in September of 2009 when he was stopped in the 10th round by WBC champ Vitali Klitschko at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, California. Arreola’s last fight was a fourth round stoppage victory over Brian Minto in December of 2009.
Tomasz Adamek (40-1, 27 KOs) is the smaller man coming up in weight from the 175-pound and 200-pound weight classes to heavyweight. Adamek defeated Andre Golota in his heavyweight debut by stoppage and a unanimous decision win over former Olympian Jason Estrada in February of 2010. Adamek’s only loss was in 2007 to Chad Dawson by decision.
Tomasz Adamek is dedicating Saturday’s HBO bout to the 96 passengers and crew who died tragiclly in last week’s plane crash in Russia, which included Polish President, Lech Kaczynski, and other Polish political, religious and military leaders.
The Co-feature bout will showcase two top junior middleweight contenders Alfredo “Perro” Angulo (17-1, 14 KOs) of Mexico vs. Joel Julio (35-3, 31 KOs) of Colombia.
Before and after the HBO boxing card the 3rd episode of HBO 24/7 Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley will air.
