WBC Welterweight title holder Andre Berto (25-0, 19 KOs) vs. Carlos Quintana (27-2, 21 KOs) is the main event of a televised HBO boxing double header on April 10. The Co-Main Event is a Featherweight 12 Rounder between Celestino Caballero (33-2, 23 KOs) and Daud Cino Yordan (25-0, 19 KOs).
Andre Berto had to pull out of a January fight with Sugar Shane Mosley due to the devastating earthquake that rocked Haiti and taking the lives of many of his fellow Haitians and relatives. Berto decided it was more important to take care of family first and pulled out of the fight with Mosley.
Mosley went on to sign a mega fight deal against Floyd Mayweather Jr. for May 1. Berto’s opponent Carlos Quintana was the first and only man to defeat Paul Williams. Williams was highly regarded as the most feared 147-pounder in boxing and Quintana defeated him in their first fight. Williams was able to rebound by knocking out Quintana in the first round of their rematch.
The welterweight division has a sea of interesting big money fights for WBC champ Andre Berto should he get passed Quintana on Saturday night; Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley would all be very lucrative future fights for the WBC welterweight champion.
Live on HBO 10:30 pm ET/ 7:30 pm PT at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida. Make sure to catch the debut of HBO 24/7 “Mayweather/Mosley” immediately following the Berto vs. Quintana/ Caballero vs. Yordan fights.
