Floyd Mayweather’s adviser and CEO of Mayweather Promotions, Leonard Ellerbe, claims the May 1, 2010 HBO Pay-per-view buy rate for the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Sugar Shane Mosley fight drew around 1.4 million buys according to an article by David Mayo of the Grand Rapids Press.
Ellerbe also said that Mayweather will pocket $40 million dollars of the $77 million PPV revenue. Ellerbe insists that there is no truth to the rumors of Freddie Roach’s claim that negotiations for a Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao super fight will begin on Tuesday.
“Ain’t nobody thinking about Manny Pacquiao, Bob Arum or Freddie Roach,” Ellerbe told the Grand Rapids Press. “Floyd isn’t thinking about none of them, and there ain’t no negotiations starting, period. Floyd is just coming off a great win. He’s not thinking about any of them.”
Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the most important fight for boxing today, if the fight doesn’t get made it would be a serious blow to the sport, and if the fight gets made it will help boxing enormously.
