Freddie Roach, the world famous boxing trainer to Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, told Associated Press that he believes the negotiations for the most anticipated boxing match of this era; Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao, will begin shortly after Pacquiao’s May 10th Philippine election outcome. Manny Pacquiao is running for congressional seat in Sarangani Province and is currently winning in the polls and expected to win by a landslide.
Freddie Roach is currently in New York preparing his WBA light-welterweight champion, Amir Khan, for his May 15 title defense on HBO against Paulie Malignaggi.
Paulie Malignaggi has a history of bad blood with the Wild Card boxing stable, he was most vocal in accusing Freddie Roach’s prized pupil, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, of taking steroids and performance enhancing drugs after Pacquiao’s defeats of Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto and Joshua Clottey.
Malignaggi also suspects that Amir Khan could possibly be taking the same type of enhancers that he is accusing Manny Pacquiao of taking, since both are trained by Freddie Roach and Alex Ariza.
If the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather super-fight cannot be made, Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter said his plan B option is for Pacquiao to fight Antonio Margarito on November 13 at Dallas Cowboy stadium.
