Still mum on a comeback date, at the moment Ricky Hatton is content with his life away from boxing, but he has stated numerous times that he is not retired from the sport, just waiting for the right opponent that will give him the fire and hunger to comeback.
Hatton whose last fight was a loss to Manny Pacquiao by 2nd round knockout, told the Manchester Evening News that he is open to a rematch with Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather.
“If there was one fight to come back for it would be Mayweather,” Hatton told the Manchester Evening News.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. was the first boxer to defeat Ricky Hatton in 2007 and the loss still bothers Hatton to this day.
“He’s the one. Even after he beat me I thought he still showed me no respect. I’d like another pop at him if I had my choice.” said Hatton.
A rematch with Floyd Mayweather would be a stretch since the public demand for a Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather super-fight is so high.
If a Pacquiao-Mayweather showdown doesn’t get made and Floyd Mayweather opts to fights Hatton in England, the fight fans will be disappointed and Mayweather might face a backlash and reduced Pay-per-view sales.
Same can be said of Manny Pacquiao fighting Antonio Margarito instead of Mayweather, the fans want to see Mayweather and Pacquiao get it on.
