What!? Did I just see Kermit Cintron jump through the ropes!? Did he just jump through the ropes? May 8th, at the Home Depot Center, L.A. “The Killer” and “The Punisher” were scheduled to get it on. Paul “The Punisher” Williams was the betting favorite, although, Kermit “The Killer” Cintron was given more than a punchers chance to be the victor. I was very excited about the fight. I just knew that these two guys would come out and throw down!
Who would have ever guessed that Paul’s corner people would be telling him to hold back on the aggression and offense, and wait for Kermit to come forward, be patient, “it will come Brother..” his corner calmly stated. Who would have ever guessed that Kermit’s corner would be telling him to wait for “The Punisher” to come forward? So, for a moment there, they both looked just a little apprehensive about engaging.

Because the two fighters were following the advice given in their corners, fans were puzzled, and due to the lack of attack from Paul Williams, Ronnie Shields implied to Cintron that Paul was afraid to attack him, its time to go get him. Ya know, this is odd, because on cue, Paul’s Corner told him they wanted him to pick the pace up and look to hook behind his jab and the fighters took that advice and started to warm-up in the last minute of the third round. They were both fighting and connecting. The fire was started in the last minute of the third round. So, the fourth round begins and you can still feel the heat building. It’s really about to get hot when Paul throws a left hand that grazed the face of “The Killer” who came back with a right hand, Paul seemed to be expecting a right hand because he ducked, and Kermit’s momentum kind of caught them up a bit into an odd clinch.
What happened next could only be scripted; honestly, Hollywood loves this kind of unexpected occurrence that causes you to question your consciousness. It’s true; I thought I saw Kermit “The Killer” Cintron jump through the ropes. I jumped to my feet and said in an unsure voice, “did he just jump through the ropes face first”? Then I saw Kermit, in mid-air turn his body and land on his back on top of the table around the ring. What!? Yeah, then he immediately grabbed the back of his head, and went to the floor. By the time a cameraman got over there Cintron was laying face first on the concrete holding his right hip and lower back area. He’s said he wanted to get up and finish the fight but the doctor over ruled him. He must have been hurt
and didn’t know, he wanted to get up and fight and the doctor said something to him like, “no you are hurt, you can’t fight him, its over.” I mean don’t you know when you’re able to fight. Kermit is saying let me at him, and the doctor is saying, I think you’re hurt, I just don’t think you understand how much punishment you took from that tabletop. Hum?
In summary, Kermit jumps through the ropes, turns his body in mid-air, lands on a tabletop, grabs the back of his head, goes to the floor, moves the hand that was holding the back of his head to his hip and lower back area, gets put on a gurney, then begs to be let up to go back in the ring and win the fight.
Wow, way more than I bargained for. I’m almost speechless, I keep wondering, did I just see a guy jump through the ropes? And adding insult to injury, regarding Cintron’s circumstance, in California if the bell sounds for the forth round, no matter what happens, they go to the score cards. What!? Yep, that’s right to the cards. The cards said Paul won. So, “The Killer” is punished by a tabletop and “The Punisher” needs therapy and I know it’s true because he’s asking himself the same thing I keep asking myself, “did I just see Kermit jump through the ropes?”
