By Superstar Billy Graham.
Since that infamous satellite radio unscheduled interview with RA The Rugged Man and Floyd Mayweather Jr back on October 2009, all Floyd Mayweather knew about the Philippines as he revealed on that no holds barred interview “Don’t we know the Philippines, the Philippines makes the best enhancement drugs?” This is the first time The Superstar has heard of this rumor. Just where did Floyd get this information? It seems Floyd Jr knows something about the Philippines for which the Filipinos themselves don’t know about. Just when did Floyd Jr, and lets include his father and uncle become an authority in Philippine culture and history. We all know about Roger Mayweather’s insinuation Manny is taking this mythical drug called A Side Meth. How Roger reported that this drug has been used 500 years ago by the Filipino soldiers who fought against the Americans. We didn’t know that and The Superstar has never heard the Filipinos were fighting the Americans 500 years ago. The Superstar will refresh everyone’s memory.
“That mother***** is on the A-side meth, that’s what the f*** he’s on,” “It’s called the A-side meth. He on that or he on something else. The A-side meth is what they used to have 500 years ago. Remember when the Philippines were fighting the US soldiers? They were shooting them motherf****s with 45s. And 45s were bouncing off their motherf****ng a$$. They weren’t even dying!”
— Roger Mayweather
Just by judging Floyd Jr’s comments and his family, they desperately need to learn a thing or 2 about the Philippines. The need to take a first class flight to the Philippines, preferably around Christmas time so they won’t complain about how hot and humid it is in the Philippines. Plus they will see and experience Filipino hospitality, and their giving nature. They can sample the great Filipino cuisine, especially Lechon (crispy roasted whole pig). We will leave out the cooked fetal duck egg known as Balut. But if they are adventurous eaters, they should give it a try. Also the nightlife in the city of Manila is just as exciting as if you were in nightclub in New York. Except the people are a lot friendlier.
Then afterward, they should take another plane ride to Gensan or more appropriately known as General Santos City, visit Manny’s hometown and the Province of Sarangani where he is the congressman. This is where the learning should begin. Floyd Jr and his family need desperately to see and hear the testimony of the people who knew Manny as a kid and living in one of the impoverished cities in the world. The Mayweathers need to experience first hand, the type of poverty that most people here in the United States have no clue about or how it is to really be in poverty. The kind of poverty where you see children who are practically babies themselves, working the streets to earn pennies. The kind of poverty when you see a 6 year old knocking at your car window and asking if you want to buy cigarettes, gum, candy, or anything that has any value. Many people in the Philippines suffer from starvation and many children are malnourished often having only 1 meal a day. Consisting of rice and salted fish called Tuyo. It wouldn’t be far fetched to imagine Manny and his family lived in those conditions. Floyd has experienced hardship himself but not the kind of hardship or level the way Manny grew up. By 14 years old, Manny was practically homeless, He often had no roof over his head. There are no homeless shelters. The church do what they can for the poor but they are not financially secure themselves. And if you look at Floyd’s world, he always had a roof over his head and never went malnourished or faced starvation. He had his 3 meals a day. Floyd Mayweather was able to eat McDonald’s and KFC Kentucky Fried Chicken (no hate). It is absolutely safe to say Manny as a youth never ate at Mickey D’s or at the Colonel’s. Poverty is no joke, and Manny has faced and lived through this, being malnourished and often ate barely a meal. When you lived through this type of hardship and extreme poverty, it will make you appreciate what you have and you will never take life for granted.
The Mayweather family desperately need to see what Manny has done with his wealth. Manny does have his luxuries like a Mansion (not the Beverly Hills type Mansion), Hummers, and servants, but what he has in luxury is not even close to what he has given back to his community. Floyd and his family must see the hospitals, the schools, and other social programs Manny has helped build. Manny created scholarship programs for many children so they get the chance to get an education. Education in the Philippines can be a luxury because children are often put to work to help support the family at very young age. That is exactly what Manny had done, he had to drop out of school to help support his family. He earned meager wages, from selling donuts a few cents more than what he originally paid for. Manny has also dabbled selling stolen cigarettes. The hardship Manny faced as a youth is the source of his drive to help his people and more important the poor. He knows what it is to be poor and homeless. The are no social programs or welfare system, although it has been said Manny is the welfare system of Gensan. It’s been said the generosity of Manny Pacquiao is too a fault. Many are concerned Manny will give all of his money away and have nothing left. Freddie Roach has made this reference before, he is afraid Manny will give it all away and is way too generous. Manny has been known to give money to those who need medical attention and often flip the bill. Sometimes people try to exploit Manny’s generosity. But Manny truly believes he has a responsibility to help and in his own words, “what good is money when you can’t help people”, and his reason is God gave him the gift of boxing so he can help people. To some people, especially cynics, it is too much to believe. Nobody can be that caring but some people can surprise you.
The Superstar truly believes once the Mayweather family see and experience for themselves the road Manny Pacquiao walked and fought through, they may understand why Manny is so driven and great at his craft. It was not steroids, Peds or what ever magical or mythical drug that made him great. The path Manny went through defines him as a person. Every barrier he went through tells us it wasn’t an easy road, and it will never be easy for Manny. The baseless drug accusation is another example, the road Manny will go through will never be easy. Even his political aspirations, will never be easy. We’ve heard “All roads leads to Mayweather”. Well that road is another barrier Manny must to go through. His fight with Floyd won’t be easy. We can safely say, it will never be easy for Manny. This mega-fight with Floyd is just another chapter in his life, the fight will never define him. The legacy he leaves behind will define him.
