The BWAA “Trainer of the Year” and current trainer to newly elected Philippine congressman, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, believes that his prized pugilist is now ready to call Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s bluff and agree to the terms including the random pre-fight Olympic blood testing that he once refused.
“At this point I feel that Manny is going to agree to everything,” Roach said. “That’s our bluff. We’re going to call his bluff. We’ll see…I can’t speak for Manny, I can’t speak for (Bob) Arum (Pacquiao’s promoter) but I feel the fight will happen because Manny is going to call his bluff and say ‘let’s do it.” Roach told the Toronto Star.
“Manny’s now a congressman. He’s going to agree with everything Mayweather wants,” Roach said confidently. “That’s why I think the fight will happen.”
The fight negotiations have hit snags before but this time it seems team Pacquiao is doing their best to try and make the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao super-fight happen for the fans.
Bob Arum told Fanhouse boxing editor, Lem Satterfield, that a resolution to the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao negotiations will come in the following weeks.
Freddie Roach is currently in Toronto, Canada to help train his female fighter, Ana “Hurricane” Julaton when she faces Maria Elena Villalobos on Wednesday June 30 at the Rama Casino in Ontario for the vacant WBO female super bantamweight title.
