By Rocky Pirrottina
My name is Rocky Pirrottina, I was a Boxer in the 70’s and 80’s, I was 3 times Victorian Champion as a Pro, I represented Victoria in the 1970s and won a silver medal in the Australian Games.
I am so disappointed and angry at Paul Briggs taking a dive in that contest last night. Boxing has suffered so much bad publicity over the years and this just put the icing on the cake.
How can a promotion of such high standards let this happen? We all know that Paul Briggs was not in Danny Green’s Class and they still let it take place.
A lot of people and sponsors put up good money for that crap. No wonder Boxing is a dying sport in Australia and the UFC (Mixed Martial Arts) is taking over.
I would have given Danny a better fight than Paul did, it sickens me. It’s when you see a lot of old fighters make comebacks that just make the sport look like crap. I retired from Boxing because I was getting older and taking to much punishment.
A lesson to all you so called fighters that think you can come back and do the same as you did in your youth, get over it and age gracefully and let the younger fit fighters have a go and bring this dying Sport back to were it should be.
The photos of me are the Past and that’s were Briggs should have stayed.
Thanks,
Rocky Pirrottina
