If other sport disciplines such as the Track and Field, and Cycling can do it, why can’t Boxing? If other sports men and women such as Olympic-level athletes can subject themselves to such testing, who is Manny Pacquiao to object?
This is not for the benefit of Pacquiao or Mayweather, it’s for the benefit of the sport of Boxing. In my estimation, the fans of Boxing were expressing their desire for cleanliness in the sport, when they gave Floyd Mayweather Jr. the “Best Fighter” Espy award for 2010, instead of Manny Pacquiao.
Those who are urging Mayweather to accept a Pacquiao fight without Olympic Style Drug Testing are not interested in the well being and cleanliness of the sport of Boxing, they are either interested in their own financial bottom line, or they are Mayweather-Haters who wants to see Floyd lose at any cost, or both.
Anyone who truly loves boxing will wholeheartedly support Mr. Mayweather’s stance, as I do. For too long have drug cheats been able to prosper in the sport of boxing, unimpeded.
It is plain to see from Pacquiao’s super energetic performances, such as that displayed against Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton, that he is not operating on natural human energy alone.
So, in his own language, I say Hindi (NO) to Pacquiao, if he wouldn’t allow his blood to be randomly tested for performance enhancing drugs by the United States Anti-Doping Agency, or the World Anti-Doping Agency, before taking the ring against Mayweather.
