(July 28th) Fighting on a Lou DiBella Broadway Boxing card at BB Kings in Time Square, New York 20 year old unbeaten light heavyweight boxer puncher Joe “The Irish Bomber” Smith Jr. from Mastic, Shirley NY’s who works as a laborer for Local 66 took a round to loosen up. Responding to the loud support from a large contingent of fellow union members “The Irish Bomber” settled down in round two blasting Chicago, Illinois Charles Wade with a heavy straight right flush on the chin leaving him doing a “Second City” impression of a weeble, wobbling through the referee’s eight count.
When the action resumed Smith a certified finisher moved in banging Wade with unanswered power shots from both sides prompting the referee to put a stop to the beating at 1:10 of the second round. Smith trained by former Long Island standout pro’s and fellow Local 66 members Phil and Gerry Capobianco remains perfect at 6-0, 6Ko’s is looking to stay busy with a possible showing at Havoc’s show August 7th at Aviator Sports and Recreation Center Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn.
