The Ultimate Fighting Championship comes to Boston for the first time with UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn 2 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
The main-event is a rematch between former lightweight champion, B.J. Penn and current champion, Frankie Edgar.
Penn believes Frankie Edgar didn’t fight but came to run around the cage instead and squeak out a victory, and Edgar is out to prove that his win over B.J. Penn wasn’t a fluke.
The real feature bout of the evening will be the James Toney vs. Randy Couture, “Boxing vs. UFC” match. IBA heavyweight boxing champion James Toney is making his MMA debut against one of the greatest MMA fighters and UFC legend in Randy Couture. Toney is the huge underdog in this fight, and rightfully so, he is a one dimensional boxer, who stands little to no chance against the multifaceted Couture, who has beaten strikers before with his Greco-Roman wrestling and takedowns.
The UFC will also air two free Preliminary fights on Spike TV:
Lightweight bout: Andre Winner vs. Nik Lentz
Lightweight bout: Joe Lauzon vs. Gabe Ruediger
