I know, some of the boxing elitists are gonna say that’s not true, but let’s face it, if you search for any type of boxing related article the name that gets massive response or traffic is Manny Pacquiao.
Manny Pacquiao’s name is used to bring traffic to different websites. A lot of people online complain that the Filipinos or Pactards as they call them make boxing hard to watch or are not real fans–hurting the sport of boxing more than helping. But if you look at the Google searches by country you will type in any boxer you want, like Floyd Mayweather or Bernard Hopkins for example and usually the Philippines comes up as the top country that searches for that boxer, so, how can people say Filipinos or Pactards don’t care about boxing and only follow Pacquiao? When it seems the majority of boxing searches are coming out of that country. They just happen to be proud of their countryman the same way the Africans and blacks were proud of Muhammad Ali, so, of course they will be a little extreme in their fanaticism of Pacquiao. Because of Manny Pacquiao, many people not just Filipinos have become fans of boxing.
Pacquiao is the brightest star in boxing today. He brings an exciting fight style and positive out of the ring persona that young children can look up to. Pacquiao shatters the negative image that many Americans have of boxers, Floyd Mayweather is that current negative image, a greedy and self serving bragger, who doesn’t care about the fans at all.
I will admit, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has talent and is one of the best boxers of our time, but when I talk to casual boxing fans or come across random people and talk boxing with them, they have nothing but negative things to say about Floyd Mayweather.
Boxing in America is suffering. The new emergence of the UFC and MMA has a stronghold on the youth because they offer more fan friendly fighters that come to fight just like Manny Pacquiao and the more these Pacquiao hating boxing elitists take shots at Manny Pacquiao, the more it makes me wonder if they really love boxing or just like holding onto the glory days of boxing and cannot move forward.
I love boxing and I respect the history, but to discredit guys like Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. and say these guys aren’t great is a disservice to the sport and unfair to current fighters because it’s almost like no matter what these current boxers do they will never be considered great in their eyes. There are also those guys who bash anything on top, they complain about whoever is on top and the star. These certain types are calling for the boycott of Pacquiao fights, to be honest, that is something you should just keep to yourself, that is not something worthy of protest. If you don’t feel like ordering Manny Pacquiao’s fights or you just hate him and hate his exciting fan friendly style…Just don’t order the fight and stop trying to go on some type of smear campaign telling others to boycott the fights because it just makes you look pathetic.

I am an avid fan of boxing and video games. My first fight of memory was watching Prince Naseem Hamed destroy Kevin Kelly. I enjoy all aspects of the sport. My favorite current boxer is Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. My favorite boxing match is Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo 1. I love watching boxing on Pay-Per-View more than being there live because you can really enjoy and watch the action from the best view.
