David Haye likens fight with Audley Harrison to “Gang Rape”

The British heavyweight boxing champion, David “The Hayemaker” Haye, took his trash talk a step too far, when he likened the outcome of his forthcoming fight with Audley Harrison to being “as one-sided as a gang rape.”

Haye needs to realize rape is not something to joke about. To joke about rape is extremely offensive to rape victims. Many women have been victim to gang rapes that left them traumatized and violated, many times living with shame. To even joke around about rape, shows the shameless level Haye would go to, to promote his unanticipated title match against Harrison.

I don’t mind hype or trash talk, but when you use such words as rape and gang raping someone, those have no place in boxing. Boxing is a noble sport, this is not a barbaric spectacle like UFC or MMA where many of the fighters hit a man when he is down.

Maybe David Haye is trying to piggyback and copy Floyd Mayweather, who recently video taped himself in a controversial Ustream rant towards Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao, giving the brash Mayweather massive media exposure. Whatever Haye’s intentions were, they’re getting pathetic and embarrassing.

Haye has really bothered me. I was a fan of his. I started believing the hype.  He talked big and confident. He gave us a glimmer of hope that the once boring heavyweight division would be filled with excitement. He said he wanted to fight the Klitschko brothers and that his exciting action packed style he had at cruiserweight would transfer over to his heavyweight career.

All of the promises were a load of rubbish. Haye lied to us. He talked big, but chickened out of fights with Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko. David Haye is putting Floyd Mayweather Jr. to shame with his ducking abilities. As for the exciting boxing style he promised us — we are still waiting to see it. Haye turned to a boring fighter at heavyweight, more of a move and jab and run guy. He is no longer the exciting knockout puncher or brawler he once was at cruiserweight. Haye doesn’t have the killer instinct or the courage to go out on his shield like he promised the fans, instead, he has become a safety first fighter content on winning a points decision.

Haye is quickly becoming one of the most irrelevant champions in boxing. The man says he is gonna retire next year, and with a fight against Audley Harrison and neither Klitschko brothers, he will retire with a resume not worthy of “Hall of Fame” consideration.

David Haye step your game up.
