The November 13 fight between Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito at Dallas Cowboys Stadium is weeks away, but the tickets for the 154 pound WBC title fight are selling fast.
According to the Manila Bulletin, Top Rank promoter, Bob Arum, the ticket sales are selling better than Manny’s previous fight against African boxer Joshua Clottey at Cowboys Stadium.
“Tickets just went on sale and the response is great and most of the high-priced seats have been sold. Soon, sales will hit the roof,” said Arum.
Recently adding former middleweight champ, Kelly Pavlik, as the co-main event will also help ticket and Pay-per-view sells for Pacquiao-Margarito.
Arum also said some of the tickets are now being sold online for 18 times the retail value they were purchased for. A ringside seat for Pacquiao vs. Margarito that originally went for $700 is now being pushed for $12,500.
Arum also believes the Pacquiao vs. Margarito fight will out do the 51,000 attendance done by the Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight last March and will sell around 60-70,000 tickets for Cowboys Stadium because Margarito has a bigger name and Latino fanbase compared to Clottey, who was a virtual unknown.
HBO 24/7: Pacquiao/Margarito will premiere on Oct. 23, to help hype and promote the fight.
For the fight fans who cannot make it to Arlington, Texas on November 13, the fight will be broadcast live by HBO sports Pay-per-view and the price will be $54.95.
