British tabloid News of The World posted a video of a hidden camera taping former junior welterweight and welterweight champion, Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton, snorting several lines of coke on a hotel room dresser.
The majority of news headlines pertaining to Ricky Hatton were surrounded on the matter of retirement. Would Hatton comeback to fight again after his humiliating losses to Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, or would he call it a day and enjoy retirement. Now, instead the once squeaky clean boxer, who was never shrouded in controversy, has now got himself caught up in a cocaine scandal that has tarnished the boxers image, especially as a role model to the youth.
Previously exposed was boxer Joe Calzaghe, who was caught on camera by British tabloids earlier this year trying to score some cocaine in New York. Calzaghe and Hatton were both huge boxing superstars, who seemed to carry themselves with class and didn’t seem the type to get involved with such dangerous drugs. But even the ones you least expect can be affected by drug abuse.
