Tonight on HBO Boxing After Dark, undefeated Olympic gold medalist and WBA featherweight boxing champion Yuriorkis Gamboa will face IBF featherweight champion Orlando Salido in a featherweight title unification bout.
Yuriorkis Gamboa (18-0-15 KO’s) is one of the most promising young fighters today with a long and impressive amateur boxing background and like Manny Pacquiao, he is considered one of the sports most exciting fighters. Orlando Salido (34-10-2-22 KO’s) is a tough, young and rugged Mexican boxing veteran that will test the undefeated Gamboa and hopes to give the Cuban gold medalist his first loss.
If Gamboa gets by Salido on September 11, then, he steps closer to a mega showdown with rival undefeated WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez, who takes on Rafael Marquez on November 6.
Also on the HBO televised broadcast is the battle of two undefeated lightweights, Anthony Peterson (30-0-20 KO’s) vs. Brandon Rios (24-0-1-18 KO’s).
