Sergio Mora and Sugar Shane Mosley will head a stacked boxing card put on by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions and televised live by HBO Pay-per-view tonight, Saturday September 18, 2010 at the Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles.
Mora and Mosley will fight at 154-pounds. Mora wants to be the first Mexican to defeat Shane Mosley and a victory on Mexican Independence Day weekend would make this victory extra special for Mora. Mosley is fighting to show his loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. was just an off night and he hasn’t aged over night. Sergio Mora and Shane Mosley both hail from southern California and share a common opponent, the late Vernon Forrest, Mosley lost two fights to Forrest and Mora beat Forrest in their first meeting to win the WBC 154-pound title, but lost the rematch.
The winner of Mosley vs. Mora could be a possible future opponent for superstar Manny Pacquiao if he gets by Antonio Margarito on November 13.
The complete HBO Pay-per-view broadcast undercard will feature: Kaliesha West vs. Angel Gladney for the Female WBO bantamweight title. Victor Ortiz vs. Vivian Harris, who both share the nickname “Vicious”, duke it out at junior welterweight. Mexican phenom Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Carlos Baldomir for the WBC Silver light middleweight title, and Daniel Ponce De Leon vs. Antonio Escalante at featherweight.
The main event capping off the night is Sugar Shane Mosley vs. Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora.
Watch it live on HBO PPV starting at 6 PM PT/ET.
