Antonio Margarito claims to want redemption and will beat Manny Pacquiao on November 13 to clear his name to show the world he doesn’t need handwraps to beat a top fighter. He tells everyone that he is an innocent man who never knew his hands were being loaded with plaster by his former trainer Javier Capetillo, but Margarito’s sorrow doesn’t seem legitimate anymore.
First, he was seen on HBO 24/7 making jokes about the situation that got him suspended, even wrapping a huge cement block on his fist while mocking Manny Pacquiao’s previous remarks about Margarito not knowing what was being put in his gloves.
Manny Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease which he believes is boxing related, thought that Margarito’s camp making jokes about the handwraps situation was classless and inappropriate to make fun of such a delicate matter. In boxing if you go in the ring and load your wraps it’s like attempted murder, a person can be permanently damaged or even die in the ring from loaded gloves.
A video online by ESNEWS on YouTube which was recently edited showed Antonio Margarito’s trainer, Robert Garcia, joking about Freddie Roach’s comments about the handwraps by placing a metal plate on his fists and around the two minute mark of the video it showed Antonio Margarito and lightweight boxer Brandon Rios making fun of the trembling of Freddie Roach, which is associated with Parkinson’s disease.
Here is the original unedited video at 2:05 minutes into the video is when Margarito and Rios making fun of Freddie Roach (Video was removed)
Here is an Image Gif of Margarito and Rios mocking Freddie Roach
This was truly a tasteless move by the Margarito camp, they make fun of the handwraps situation and now take shots at a disease that Muhammad Ali, Freddie Roach, and many other boxers suffer from and could possibly plague Margarito and Rios in the future.
I felt Antonio Margarito deserved a second chance, and I thought Margarito seemed honest, but now that I see more and more of these arrogant jokes coming out of his camp the more I believe that the California State Athletic Commission made the right decision when they said they didn’t see real rehabilitation or remorse from Antonio Margarito and revoked his license.

I am an avid fan of boxing and video games. My first fight of memory was watching Prince Naseem Hamed destroy Kevin Kelly. I enjoy all aspects of the sport. My favorite current boxer is Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. My favorite boxing match is Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo 1. I love watching boxing on Pay-Per-View more than being there live because you can really enjoy and watch the action from the best view.
