Sergio Martinez’s manager, Sampson Lewkowicz, told the boxing media immediately after Sergio Martinez’s punishing one punch knockout over Paul Williams Saturday night that a freakshow fight between 8 division champ Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and WBC middleweight champion Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez will never happen and people shouldn’t take such an unrealistic fight serious.
Sampson immediately knocked down the possibility of pitting Sergio Martinez in with Manny Pacquiao saying that the fight will never happen because Manny Pacquiao is too small and it is a fantasy that the press created to make headlines. Sampson does want to pit Sergio Martinez against undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. who is physically bigger than Pacquiao and is considered by many as the best skilled boxer today.
Lewkowicz also believes Paul Williams took Sergio Martinez lightly and was thinking ahead of a possible big money fight with Manny Pacquiao at welterweight.
“Paul Williams was thinking about Manny Pacquiao and he forgot about Sergio Martinez and he paid the consequences” said Lewkowicz.
Williams paid the consequences by suffering a vicious knockout loss in the second round that will definitely make water cooler talk at work on Monday morning.
