A lot of commotion has been made lately about a video on youtube by Elie Sekbach where he showed Antonio Margarito, trainer Robert Garcia, and Brandon Rios laughing while responding to a comment that Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach made.
People are making a big deal about it because Freddie Roach has Parkinson’s disease and it showed Margarito, Garcia and Rios making fun of Roach. Are people forgetting that it was Freddie Roach who started this feud and trash talk?
People are blowing this out of proportion. This is apart of boxing, its trash talk. Muhammad Ali went overboard when he called Joe Frazier and Uncle Tom and ugly Gorilla, when Roberto Duran took personal shots at Sugar Ray Leonards wife, or Ricardo Mayorga saying he will sleep with an opponents wife, this type of stuff is all mental games to get into the opponents head.
There is a lot of editing done by Elie Sekbach in this video. First, he cut off the part where he asks a question before Margarito and Rios respond to it and only shows Margarito, Garcia and Rios part. I am not sure if Mr. Sekbach purposely edited it that way to stir up some more controversy but from the looks of the video it seemed like it was his intention to build up some more hype or hate toward Team Margarito. In the early part of the video it shows Robert Garcia mocking the handwraps situation by putting a steel plate on his knuckles.
Robert Garcia and Margarito when they did that handwrap skit on HBO 24/7, they were retaliating to Manny Pacquiao’s shots at Antonio Margarito and mocking him from the previous episode of HBO 24/7.
What I wanna say is it seems people are just deciding to blast Team Margarito, which is BS, when Freddie Roach talks just as much smack and started it.
If you followed the Manny Pacquiao vs. Antonio Margarito build up from day one, you will know Robert Garcia, Antonio Margarito and even Brandon Rios never started the trash talk! It was Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach who did. The reporter Elie Sekbach was also instigating it, which is something he is good at doing in a lot of his videos. The reporter would ask them questions or relay something Freddie Roach said and they would respond.

Robert Garcia is a good man. Robert Garcia needs to be left out of this, he does so much good for the community and just because of some video online all of the good he has done and sacrificed for is nothing just because he was fighting fire with fire with Freddie Roach? He just got caught up in the moment, and if you notice it wasn’t Margarito mocking Roach it was Brandon Rios. Margarito was pretending to be scared in the video because he was responding to a claim Freddie Roach made about Manny knocking him out. Brandon Rios is the one who was clowning on Freddie Roach’s physical disability by shaking his head. Rios is a kid from the streets he doesn’t know any better and it seems his influence also rubs off on the kids in the Oxnard gym of Robert Garcia because ESNEWS also had a video of some young kids cussing and saying “Bad Ass” which is Brandon Rios signature phrase. Those young kids are probably imitating Rios, so, you can see how powerful Rios influence is around the gym, if he can even get his classy trainer and young kids to get involved with the trash talk at Manny Pacquiao and Freddie Roach.
But what is really pissing me off and hitting me personally is the racist remarks being left by cowards online hiding behind a computer saying “stupid Mexicans,” “I hope Manny Pacquiao executes another Mexican,” “Go back to Mexico,” or ” Typical Mexican with no class” all of those remarks are uncalled for and being a Mexican-American those comments hurt me. Why attack a whole ethnic group of people just because of what one person did? Not all Mexicans are like that and I believe a lot of closet racists who hate Mexicans used this as fuel to release their own hate on different websites.
This is boxing and it’s just trash talk. I doubt Brandon Rios, Antonio Margarito and Robert Garcia were trying to make fun of people with Parkinson’s, everything said was directed towards Roach.
