As a Manny Pacquiao fan and fan of boxing, I hate to do this, but I refuse to pay for a Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley fight. I am not alone, the majority of boxing fans have voiced their distaste for this fight on popular message boards and blogs.
I thought the Antonio Margarito fight was bad and I gave Manny and Arum the benefit of the doubt on that fight thinking it would lead to a more quality deserving opponent right after, but it looks like Arum is trying to milk Manny Pacquiao before he retires to politics by giving Manny an aged Shane Mosley who is clearly past his prime, Bob is securing a victory for Pacquiao.
It also seems that Arum knows Floyd Mayweather Jr will beat Manny Pacquiao and that’s why he didn’t even bother trying to negotiate this time around after he said his main priority was a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight because if his main draw loses to Floyd there goes the huge pay-per-view revenue and profit for Arum. This is also why he picked Mosley over Andre Berto and Juan Manuel Marquez because both of those guys are coming off big wins and are dangerous compared to Mosley who looked horrible in his previous fights and only has one powerful right hand going for him.
Arum is a really showing his true colors. He said Mosley was too old and washed up for Manny and now he is matching him with Pacquiao. Bob also said he doesn’t care what boxing fans want, it’s all about the casual fans.
I refuse to order this fight and I hope other real boxing fans tell all the casual fans to take a stand and boycott this fight and not order it. We pay Bob Arum and Manny Pacquiao’s bills, if they don’t care what boxing fans think or want, that is an insult to me and every other boxing fan out there that spends their hard earned money on a Pacquiao pay-per-view fight.
If we don’t order this Pacquiao vs. Mosley fight it will hit them where it hurts…. the wallet.
So many boxing writers and fans are opposed to this fight, and if Arum thinks our opinion doesn’t matter he might be in for a surprise when the pay-per-view numbers are below 500,000 buys. If the pay-per-view buys are a million, the more promoters like Top Rank will put on these type of events. Boxing fans need to take a stand, no more BS fights! We want to see Manny Pacquiao in with a prime fighter.
