Former PRIDE fighting champion and UFC title contender Dan “Hendo” Henderson will rematch former light-heavyweight champion Renato “Babalu” Sobral live at Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday night.
The two MMA veterans previously fought in February of 2000 in the final match of a Japanese 32 man tournament, with Dan Henderson winning a decision over Sobral. This rematch is 10 years in the making and Henderson feels he has only gotten better and the same goes for Babalu.
Both have improved on their all around mixed martial arts skills. Hendo’s been knocking out opponents with his heavy right hand power and has grown more comfortable boxing on his feet choosing to keep fights standing rather than going to the ground, Babalu a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and wrestler, has worked on his boxing with former Manny Pacquiao coach Justin Fortune and looks ready for Henderson whether its standing or on the ground.
The undercard is stacked with great match-ups:
Paul Daley vs. Scott Smith
Robbie Lawler vs. Matt Lindland
Antonio Silva vs. Mike Kyle
Benji Radach vs. Ovince St. Preux
