“It’s done. I’m fighting Many Pacquiao on May 7,” Shane Mosley told Lem Satterfield of AOL Fanhouse, that he landed the May 7th fight with Manny Pacquiao and everything has been ironed out with his adviser James Prince and Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum, all that’s left is his signature on the dotted line to make it official.
The negotiations were quick and painless and Mosley who recently went his separate ways from his former promoter Golden Boy Promotions, will receive a guarantee purse of about $5 million dollars and a certain cut of the Pay-per-view revenue.
Arum has stated in the past that a fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao would be his first priorty but he didn’t want to intrude and would wait for the Mayweather camp to initate negotiations if they were interested, but Mayweather’s team never got in contact with the Top Rank boss, so he had Manny choose from 3 alternative options, Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez, WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto, and Manny picked Mosley.
The Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley fight will be at the welterweight limit of 147-pounds for Manny’s WBO welterweight championship belt. It will be broadcast on HBO PPV and take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 7, 2011.
