The sport of boxing his having trouble making super fights happen. Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr failed to negotiate a deal twice for a fight that could gross each fighter 50 million dollars. Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye, two heavyweight champions that failed to make a unification bout twice, over contract and money disputes.
WBA heavyweight champion David Haye is going to fight his mandatory challenger Ruslan Chagaev in May or June of 2011, because IBF, IBO, WBO heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko didn’t want to fight him according to British paper The Daily Star.
Haye also said that Wladimir Klitschko made it very difficult to negotiate a July 2nd super fight unification bout because he put up too many hurdles, and when Haye agreed to all Wladimir’s demands, Wladimir chose to fight Derek Chisora instead. Haye strongly believes that Wladimir is scared of him and doesn’t want to fight him.
“At least Vitali can retire saying he had a go because he fought Lennox Lewis – but his little brother Wladimir hasn’t fought anyone. There’s no recognizable name on his record.
“They are ruining the sport because of the way they pick and choose who they fight. He will go down in history as being a coward.” Haye told The Daily Star.
