Two great displays of boxing aired on HBO World Championship Boxing Saturday night, March 12, 2011 on HBO, first was the Celtic War between Irish Andy Lee and Scottish Craig McEwan, both fighters put on a back and forth exciting Middleweight match-up, with Lee dropping and hurting Craig McEwan in the 10th round and winning by knockout.
The Main Event was a WBC Middleweight Diamond Championship fight between the best Middleweight boxer in the world Sergio Martinez and the former WBO Jr. Middleweight champion Sergiy Dzinziruk. Martinez proved to be too slick, too strong, and too good for Sergiy, Sergio dropped Dzinziruk multiple times in the fight and eventually won by stoppage in the 8th round earning him the WBC Middleweight Diamond belt. Sergio Martinez made a strong case for pound-for-pound king in 2010 by beating two top level guys in Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams, and he is starting 2011 with a bang with a dominating knockout performance of a tough undefeated fighter in Dzinziruk. Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have company because Sergio Martinez is gunning for the title of pound-for-pound king.
