March 12, Showtime returns to pay-per-view with “Relentless” Miguel Cotto vs. Ricardo Mayorga live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28 knockouts) will defend his WBA super-welterweight belt against the trash talking brawler from Nicaragua Ricardo Mayorga (29-7, 23 knockouts). Mayorga predicts a knockout in four rounds and wants a shot against the Filipino boxing star Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. If Cotto beats Mayorga he will land a rematch in the summer with his nemesis who many felt beat him with illegal handwraps Antonio Margarito.
Former Notre Dame football star and NFL player for the Baltimore Ravens, Tommy “Tommy Z” Zbikowski, will also be fighting on the card against heavyweight Richard Bryant. Zbikowski is no stranger to boxing, it was his first love before football and he’s been boxing since he was 9-years-old with an amateur boxing record of over 70 fights. Tommy was also a professional boxer before turning pro in football. He made his pro debut in 2006 on the undercard of Miguel Cotto vs. Paulie Malignaggi at Madison Square Garden, this will be his second pro fight after a 5 year lay-off.
