Strikeforce: Nick Diaz vs. Paul Daley is the first Strikeforce event under the new Zuffa management. Zuffa, owners of the worlds number one Mixed Martial Arts organization UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) purchased Strikeforce in a deal that would shake up MMA in North America. The plan is to keep everything business as usual and run Strikeforce as a separate entity.
The event will take place on Showtime Saturday, April 9, 2011 from the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California.
The Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley card will feature two title fights. In the main event Welterweight champion Nick Diaz will defend his belt against explosive striker Paul “Semtex” Daley. The co-feature will be a Lightweight title fight between champion Gilbert Melendez and challenger and MMA veteran from Japan Tatsuya Kawajiri.
Rounding out the televised card is the return of former 205 pound champion Gegard Mousasi versus UFC vet Keith Jardine, and a Lightweight showdown between the dangerous grappler Shinya Aoki and colorful Lyle Beerbohm.
