What a horrible performance by Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao. He had a guy in front of him not throwing any punches at all, and he wasn’t attacking him. I think the Manny Pacquiao Era is over. Manny didn’t seize the moment to attack Shane Mosley after he dropped him in the third round of the fight. With a lot of time left, Manny pulled back and didn’t go for the kill.
The Manny Pacquiao of old, would have attacked non-stop when he had his opponent wounded. This version of Manny Pacquiao is no longer the Pacman but more like the politician. Boxing is not a politically correct sport, it’s not your job to show compassion in the ring, the sport is brutal and if you no longer have the aggression or killer instinct you should call it quits.
There comes a time when all of the superstar fighters lose their killer instinct and Manny Pacquiao lost it tonight, just like Shane Mosley and Oscar De La Hoya did.
Shane Mosley was backtracking and Manny didn’t even know how to cut off the ring. It makes me wonder if Freddie Roach is really a good trainer like people make him out to be, if he was so great how come of all the years he’s been with Manny, he never taught him to learn how to cut off the ring when a guy is moving away?
Manny Pacquiao needs to watch some prime Roberto Duran or Jose Luis Castillo to learn how to cut the ring off because it doesn’t seem like Freddie Roach is teaching him how.
It says a lot if Manny Pacquiao couldn’t put away a gun shy Shane Mosley, maybe it’s time for him to call it quits and just focus on politics and serving his people?
I wouldn’t be surprised if Floyd Mayweather Jr. will finally call out Manny Pacquiao after that sub-par performance from the Pac-Man.
At least the Wilfredo Vasquez Jr vs. Jorge Arce undercard fight was worth it. Jorge Arce became the first Mexican to win 4 title belts in 4 separate weight classes. Now that is how you finish a fight, what a 12th round comeback to stop Vasquez in the final round. Arce showed killer instinct, unlike Pacquiao.
As boxing fans we don’t need to see any more mismatches like this on pay-per-view. There are other fighters who will deliver and deserve to be pay-per-view attractions like Sergio Martinez and Nonito Donaire, both men will fight the best and they can fight any style of fighter even cut off the ring against guys who fight backing up, something Pacquiao doesn’t know how to do.
