On January 21 of 2006, I saw the unbelievable transformation of Manny Pacquiao when he stopped the unstoppable Erik Morales in 10 rounds. Nine months prior to that date on March 19 of 2005, Manny lost via unanimous decision to the same man, Erik Morales. That was the last time I saw the bull-rushing, one dimensional, one handed, and little defense fighter that was Manny Pacquiao.
The Pac Haters like to point out that Manny Pacquiao of old, the one that lost to Erik Morales in 2005. It’s just laughable when the Pac Hater crowd are still pointing to the pre 2006 Manny Pacquiao, Teddy Atlas and Jeff Mayweather among them. Jeff Mayweather has recently called Pacquiao “one dimensional.” Boxing trainer and ESPN boxing analyst Teddy Atlas continues to show his obvious jealousy of Freddie Roach and hatred of Pacquiao; trainer Freddie Roach’s success has left Teddy as a wannabe and an also-ran trainer.
There were rumors that Atlas was rejected by Pacquiao as a trainer and chose Freddie Roach instead. If that was the case, I can see where Atlas would become a little bitter and venomous towards Pacquiao and Roach. It seems that Atlas goes out of his way just to derail the success of the dynamic duo at every chance he gets. Atlas said on ESPN that he would not place Pacquiao in the top 20 of all time greatest fighters and ranks Floyd Mayweather ahead of Pacquiao. Look at the body language of the other broadcasters while Atlas is talking. They were just disgusted at the absurdity of what he was saying. Atlas also countered his co-host that Sugar Ray Leonard would stop Manny Pacquiao. Once again, check out the body language of the others, they look incredulous at Atlas’ statements.
