Some sensitive Pacquiao fan wrote an article after researching some info on Boxrec and tried to discredit Teddy Atlas and the great boxing legends Henry Armstrong and Sugar Ray Robinson.
This guy named Don Donatello has some nerve to act like he knows so much about boxing when he just started watching boxing when Manny Pacquiao became famous.
He even had the nerve to call Teddy Atlas out like he had no boxing knowledge. Well in case you don’t know, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. So what you got some boxing predictions right, that doesn’t mean you know boxing. Teddy isn’t sold on the Pacquiao hype and that is his choice, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know crap about boxing. Atlas has been watching boxing and training boxers longer than Don Donatello has been following the sport. But according to these Pacquiao fanatics, if you do not say something positive or praise the hell out of their hero you are an enemy or a hater.
You want to insult the opposition of Henry Armstrong by calling his fights sparring sessions? Well Armstrong and Ray Robinson could fight tune up fights if they wanted, but at least they never lost by KO to a cab driver like your hero Manny Pacquiao did.
Basically what this guy does is write articles kissing up to Manny Pacquiao while insulting any other boxer who isn’t Manny Pacquiao. He is not a fan of the sport of boxing at all, he is only a fan of Filipino fighters and Manny Pacquiao, and it shows by him not giving credit to boxing legends of old.
Manny Pacquiao hasn’t accomplished half of what Henry Armstrong or Sugar Ray Robinson have in their boxing career, these guys would work out like mad men and fight fights on short notice, they also never ducked or dodged anyone, they fought longer rounds against tougher conditioned fighters.
If Manny Pacquiao struggled with Shane Mosley and Juan Manuel Marquez imagine how much trouble he would have with someone of the caliber of Sugar Ray Robinson? Manny might be on the top of the boxing world now, but how can he be considered a great when he can’t cut off the ring and doesn’t know how to set traps or slip and counter shots?
Teddy Atlas does have a point, if Manny wants to prove his greatness he should fight Sergio Martinez for the 160 pound title, Henry Armstrong and Sugar Ray Robinson would’ve taken the challenge because that is what great fighters do…they challenge themselves.
