Ever since the Klitschko brothers became champions of the Heavyweight division in boxing, they have bored everyone to death. In the process, they both killed and destroyed boxing at the Heavyweight division. There is very little interest in the Heavyweight division except in their own country.
Most of the time the Klitchskos are both taller and heavier than their opponents. When their opponent is close to the Klitchsko’s weight, their opponents are shorter and very fat. Without their size and reach advantages, the Klitschko brothers would not be champions. They don’t out-skill their opponents, they just outweigh and outreach them. They just stick that jab all night long, and that’s it. It’s very boring to watch. And with that, the Heavyweight division, the glamour division of boxing, became relegated to the bottom.
Boxing weight classes have weight limits, except the Heavyweight division, it’s about time that the Heavyweight division have a limit too. When they have 2-5 inch reach advantage and up to 34 pound weight advantage over their opponent, they win on sheer size advantage. Either set a weight limit for the Heavyweight division, or create a Super Heavyweight division. What’s to stop more tall fighters like the Klitschkos coming with their limited skills and just using sheer size advantage to own the Heavyweight division in the future? Take a look at the very tall, very big and very immobile Nikolay Valuev, he became champion with amateurish skills and abilities.
Let’s take a look at Wladimir’s size advantages, Wladimir Klitchsko is 6′ 6 ½ “.
Wladimir 247 Samuel Peter 241 ½ 6′ 2”
Wladimir 244 Eddie Chambers 209 ½ 6′ 1”
Wladimir 240 Ruslan Chagaev 224 ¾ 6′ 1”
Wladimir 244 ¾ Hasim Rahman 253 ½ 6′ 2 ½”
Wladimir 241 Tony Thompson 247 ½ 6′ 5 ½”
Wladimir 238 Sultan Ibragimov 219 6′ 2”
Wladimir 243 ½ Lamon Brewster 228 ¼ 6′ 2”
Wladimir 241 Calvin Brock 224 ½ 6′ 2”
Wladimir 241 Chris Byrd 213 ½ 6′ 0”
Wladimir 241 Eliseo Castillo 214 6′ 2”
Wladmir 244 Samuel Peter 243 6′ 2”
Wladimir 243 Lamon Brewster 226 6′ 2”
And Vitali Klitchsko is 6′ 7½ “
Vitali 247 Odlanier Solis 247 6′ 1 ½”
Vitali 251 Shannon Briggs 262 6′ 4”
Vitali 247 Albert Sosnowski 224 6′ 2 ½”
Vitali 247 Kevin Johnson 242 6′ 3”
Vitali 252 Chris Arreola 251 6′ 4”
Vitali 249 Juan Carlos Gomez 230 6′ 3 ½”
Vitali 247 Samuel Peter 253 6′ 2”
Vitali 250 Danny Williams 270 6′ 3”
Vitali 245 Corrie Sanders 235 6′ 4”
Vitali 250 Kirk Johnson 260 6′ 2”
I rounded off the numbers and excluded the fractions on Vitali’s weight and his opponents.
For the Klitchsko’s opponents to have any chance of competing with them, a lot of them are putting in fat weight just to stay close to the Klitchsko’s huge advantage.
Finally there is going to be somebody who can neutralize Wladimir Klitchsko’s size with speed and quickness. But how many heavyweights have David Haye’s speed and quickness? There is no other this time around.
If Manny Pacquiao wasn’t around, could you imagine what state boxing would be in with the Klitchskos and Floyd Mayweather Jr. as the biggest names? WOW! Boxing would surely be totally dead!
My prediction for Wladimir Klitschko vs. David Haye: Unanimous decision for David Haye
I hesitated to write this article because there is very little interest in the Klitchskos outside of their home country and Germany. But it’s about time that someone takes them out of boxing. It will be good for boxing. David Haye will take out both Klitchsko brothers, now that’s a very good thing for the Heavyweight division.
