Floyd Mayweather Jr. is coming back to the boxing ring and after a lengthy hiatus from the sport, he is taking on the young and hungry newly crowned WBC champion “Vicious” Victor Ortiz on September 17th, live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
A lot of boxing fans want to see Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao, but with Manny Pacquiao tied up with a fight of his own in November against Juan Manuel Marquez, Floyd Mayweather took on the next best available opponent at welterweight, Victor Ortiz.
To officially announce the Mayweather vs. Ortiz fight, Golden Boy Promotions in association with Mayweather Promotions will hold two press conferences open to the public. The first press stop will be in New York City on Tuesday, June 28 at the Hudson Theatre in Time Square, starting at 12 PM ET. The second and final stop will be in Downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday, June 29 in front of the Staples Center at the Nokia Live Plaza in L.A. Live, 777 Chick Hearn Court. The L.A. event will be at nighttime begging at 8 PM PT.
