The two big names in boxing, Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. and Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao have fights coming up just a few months apart from each other, Floyd’s fighting “Vicious” Victor Ortiz in September and Manny is fighting Juan Manuel Marquez for a third time in November.
The question is which one of these Pay-per-view’s is worth your hard earned money?
My answer is simple, even if you can afford both fights save your money and just order Floyd Mayweather vs. Victor Ortiz.
I said it before, Manny Pacquiao is being hyped up and I even predicted that the Pacquiao vs. Mosley fight was a waste of cash, and I was correct, the fight turned out to be one of the most boring fights ever on PPV, it was even more boring than the previous snore fest Pacquiao produced against Joshua Clottey.
Floyd Mayweather coming back to the sport is what boxing needs right now. Too much of the media shoving “Pacmania” down our throats and many of us hardcore boxing fans are getting fed up with the mismatches that Bob Arum and Top Rank are putting on PPV featuring Manny Pacquiao.
Floyd Mayweather is a skilled technician, and after a long layoff from the ring, he chooses the young and hungry newly crowned WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz. If you didn’t see Ortiz fight Andre Berto you missed out on a true war and fight of the year candidate. People want to call Ortiz a quitter or inconsistent but the man shut up all those haters when he fought Andre Berto in his first welterweight fight and snatched the belt from the champ.
But the real owner of that WBC strap is Floyd Mayweather Jr., Floyd never lost that belt, he gave it up because he was taking a break from the sport. Now he is back to reclaim what is rightfully his and to show all the people who the real pound-4-pound king of boxing is.
Don’t let Manny Pacquiao screw you over and disappoint you again like he did with the Joshua Clottey and Shane Mosley fights, where he promised us all an action packed fight, but instead put us to sleep.
People can hate on Floyd Mayweather all they want but at least he fights live credible opponents. Pacquiao has been fighting guys that are handpicked because they don’t present him any sort of challenge, and people need to stop buying into the hype. I hope those who paid for the Pacquiao vs. Mosley fight learned their lesson and won’t be fooled again when Pacquiao fights another near age 40 fighter in Juan Manuel Marquez at another catchweight. Save your money for Floyd Mayweather Jr. he is the “REAL DEAL.”
