I find it funny that Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. the biggest cherry picker and shameless self promoter in boxing is calling Manny Pacquiao a media creation — basically a hype job. Everything Manny has done in boxing and lived through was not created by the media — it is real — his life story is not fabricated or false.
Floyd claims the media is trying create and build up a fighter to beat him, that fighter he is talking about is Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao the current pound-for-pound king and fighter of the decade.
The media didn’t create Manny Pacquiao, Manny Pacquiao achieved greatness through hardwork and fighting the best, so, they were drawn in by this humble man’s rags to riches story, defying the odds and making boxing history with 8 weight division titles — a record that will probably never be broken.
Boxing has so much negativity surrounding it, and you could hear so many people in the media slam the sport, saying they don’t watch boxing, it’s dead. Most of the time people remember the negative like Mike Tyson’s antics and crimes, boxers who commit crimes, and other things like the Oscar De La Hoya cross dressing scandal, Floyd Mayweather’s lawsuits and accusing Pacquiao of steroids.
But what Manny Pacquiao did was shine a bright light on the sport of boxing. He’s like a shooting star, that brought casual fans to the sport of boxing in a positive way. Manny Pacquiao is the greatest ambassador for the sport of boxing because he is one of the best fighters today, he is respectful, he doesn’t run from a fight, his main goal is to give excitement to please the fans, he carries himself with dignity, and he is a positive role model for the people around the world to work hard and to always believe in yourself.
He wasn’t created by the media out of the blue like Floyd is trying to make him out to be, the media just decided to pay attention, and for he first time in a long time the media is talking good and focusing on the positive about boxing rather than the negative.

I am an avid fan of boxing and video games. My first fight of memory was watching Prince Naseem Hamed destroy Kevin Kelly. I enjoy all aspects of the sport. My favorite current boxer is Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. My favorite boxing match is Diego Corrales vs. Jose Luis Castillo 1. I love watching boxing on Pay-Per-View more than being there live because you can really enjoy and watch the action from the best view.
