Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. share common opponents, below is a list of each fighter they fought and a quick breakdown of how each fight went.
Oscar De La Hoya – Mayweather ran but outboxed him to a boring decision while Manny Pacquiao punished him and made him quit on his stool.
Sugar Shane Mosley – Mayweather was badly hurt by Shane twice in the second round and then due to Shane’s age Mayweather outboxed him the rest of the fight. Notice that Mayweather never fought Shane in his prime when he was the lightweight champion of the world because he new that Shane would have beat him easily. Shane was knocked down by Manny Pacquiao and was lucky to finish the fight on his feet.
Ricky Hatton – Beaten by both Manny and Floyd but Manny’s knock out of Hatton was much more impressive than Floyd’s.
Juan Manuel Marquez – If I remember correctly Manny Pacquiao knocked him down 4 times when they fought at the natural weight of Marquez (126-130lbs). As the much larger fighter Mayweather wasn’t able to knock Marquez out and didn’t even make the agreed upon catchweight of 144-pounds for the Marquez fight.
Floyd is letting Manny Pacquiao fight bigger, tougher opponents like Joshua Clottey, Miguel Cotto, and Antonio Margarito in the hope that it will slow Manny down enough for Floyd to have even a remote chance of beating Manny and that’s assuming Floyd fights Manny before they both die of old age.
