It’s official! After 10 days of voting, Karen Franco and Monica Barco, have been selected by loyal Facebook fans to represent the city of New York in the nationwide search for the next Chicas Tecate. Karen received a resounding 35% of votes while Monica received an equally impressive 19%.
The NY portion of the competition began on July 4 and invited adults to “Like” the Tecate Boxing Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/TecateBoxing) for their chance to virtually meet—via video and photos—the 10 finalists from New York.
The Chicas Tecate search continues with the top 10 finalists from San Francisco. Facebook fans will once again have the opportunity to vote for their favorite Chica up to five times per day via the Tecate Boxing Facebook page. Each vote cast by eligible consumers will bring them closer to winning the grand prize: a trip for two to a major boxing event and exclusive behind-the-scenes access, allowing winners to live the VIP boxing experience.
At the end of the five-city competition, the four candidates with the most votes will be crowned the official Chicas Tecate and represent the brand at various events throughout the year.
Karen Franco is 25 years old and is currently studying TV & Radio Broadcasting and Sociology. On the weekends, she works as a spokesmodel and promoter for many different brands. Karen is fluent in English and Spanish and considers herself a very sociable person.
Colombian born Monica Barco grew up in New York. She considers herself a very happy and enthusiastic person who enjoys meeting new people. She’s a fan of Mexican beer and loves interacting with the Hispanic community.
