On July 23, live from Las Vegas, Nevada, HBO World Championship Boxing presents a light-welterweight unification bout between WBA champion Amir Khan (25-1, 17 KOs) of Bolton, England and IBF champion Zab Judah (41-6, 28 KOs) of Brooklyn, New York.
Amir “King” Khan has been on a tear ever since hooking up with world famous boxing trainer Freddie Roach after his knockout loss to Breidis Prescott in 2008. Since getting with Freddie Roach, Khan has sparred and held his own with the great Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and feels if he can hang with Pacquiao the pound-4-pound best fighter in the world he can hang with anyone including Floyd Mayweather Jr. should he get past Zab Judah on July 23.
Zab Judah has had his ups and downs in boxing, from his big fight losses to Kostya Tszyu, Carlos Baldomir, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Miguel Cotto, to his shining moments like his TKO win of Cory Spinks for the unified welterweight titles and his recent KO victory of Kaizer Mabuza for the IBF light-welterweight title.
For both fighters this is a chance to move on to bigger and better fights with the likes of fellow champion 140-pound Timothy Bradley or a move up to welterweight to challenge the two best pound-4-pound fighters in boxing Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
