UFC 133: Evans vs. Ortiz was originally supposed to be a light heavyweight title fight between the current UFC 205-pound champion Jon Jones and Rashad Evans but Jones had to pull out of the fight due to a pre-existing injury during training. The next person to step in to fill in for Jones was Phil Davis but while he was training for the fight he suffered a knee injury. The next option for Rashad Evans was a rematch versus Lyoto Machida, but due to Machida asking for more money to be a late replacement, UFC President Dana White had to decline. Tito Ortiz took the offer and with only a few weeks training after coming off a spectacular submission win over Ryan Bader at UFC 132 he feels he is ready to beat Evans in a rematch and land himself back into title contention against the winner of Jon Jones vs. Quinton Rampage Jackson.
The UFC 133: Rashad Evans vs. Tito Ortiz pay-per-view event takes place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Saturday, August 6, 2011. UFC announced the entire preliminary undercard will be shown for Free on UFC’s official Facebook (www.facebook.com/UFC) and Spike TV.
