Mashantucket, CT/New York, NY – (10/19/2011) – This Friday, October 21st, Queens, New York-native Will “Power” Rosinsky (14-0, 8KO’s) will step into the national spotlight and look to put his name amongst boxing’s most promising up-and-coming prospects when he takes on highly regarded and top-rated Super Middleweight contender Edwin “La Bomba” Rodriguez (19-0, 14KO’s). Rodriguez-Rosinsky is the main event bout of the evening on DiBella Entertainment’s “Octoberfist: Fight Night Done Right”, at the beautiful MGM Grand at Foxwoods. The show, which will be televised live on ShoBox: The New Generation, will also feature rising junior welterweight contender Gabriel “Tito” Bracero (17-0, 3KO’s) taking on Daniel Sostre (11-4-1, 4KO’s) for the vacant NABF title. Both bouts are scheduled for 10 rounds and will be televised live on SHOWTIME® beginning at 11PM ET/PT (delayed on the west coast).
Rosinsky was a decorated amateur, winning the New York Golden Gloves four times, as well as the 2005 United States Amateur Championship at light heavyweight, before successfully turning pro in 2008 with a first-round TKO over Valetine Fortanelly.
Rosinsky has been featured on DiBella’s Broadway Boxing series a number of times, but the bout against Rodriguez will be his first in the national spotlight. Fighting on SHOWTIME, against one of boxing’s hottest up-and-coming prospects might get some fighter’s nerves going, but with just one week left until the fight, Rosinsky seems as cool and confident as can be.
“Training camp for this fight has been better than great,” said Rosinsky, who trains at the New Legend Boxing Club in Ozone Park, Queens. “I know Edwin from coming up in the amateurs and he is a good guy, but this is a business and unfortunately for him this is a fight I had to take to better my career.”
Many of boxing insiders have Rosinsky as an underdog coming into the fight, but Rosinsky seems to be fine with the notion.
“There’s one reason why people feel that way and it’s because they saw more of Edwin. He’s been in the spotlight a little more than me in the pros, but this will be the fight where people will find out exactly who I am.”
Rosinsky knows how important the fight is for his career, as a win would propel him into the world ratings, but for now he is simply concentrated on the task at hand.
“I’m going to fight a smart fight, and execute my game plan. Like I said in the past about this specific fight between Edwin and me, people should be expecting a very good fight. It’s two guys that don’t know what it feels like to lose. We’ll both be trying protect that ‘0’.”
