The first episode of HBO 24/7: Pacquiao/Marquez aired and it seems hardly anyone is talking about it. It goes to show you that Manny Pacquiao is not as interesting or as popular as Floyd Mayweather.
When the first episode of 24/7: Mayweather/Ortiz finished the buzz on Twitter and on social networks was hot! Money May brought the controversy and drama that the people crave.
Manny Pacquiao is one of the least intriguing personalities in boxing. He is not only has an ugly boxing style with no finesse or technical skill he also has a boring personality to go along with that ugly brawling style.
The first episode 24/7: Pacquiao/Marquez just talked about their rivalry, boxing strategy and showed sparring footage and training of Pacquiao and Marquez. There was no clubbing or drama, no flash or swag in this episode and it was hard for me to stay awake with no exciting trash talk involved.
Whenever Floyd Mayweather is involved with a promotion the fans get excited! People talk about Floyd all the time because he is a fascinating individual. Manny Pacquiao doesn’t have many people talking about him and his Pay-per-view numbers are never officially released and always seem to be just inflated rumors or estimates of how many PPV was sold for his fights. They still never released the official numbers for Pacquiao vs. Mosley the worst PPV since Pacquiao vs. Clottey which only did 700,000 buys.
Look for low Pay-per-view numbers for this upcoming Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez fight, and as usual no official PPV numbers will be released. With the lack of public interest in this fight, I don’t see this fight breaking a million buys.
