I think Bob Arum should hold off on a fourth installment of Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez and make the superfight between Floyd Mayweather instead, but have Marquez fight on the undercard against Shane Mosley as a stay busy fight.
The people want to see Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao and win, lose or draw they will still pay for a Pacquiao vs. Marquez 4th fight afterwards. The people want the long awaited super-fight Pacquiao vs Mayweather first and than Marquez vs. Pacquiao.
It would be best to have Juan Manuel Marquez fight on the undercard of the super-fight just to stay busy at 147. Marquez doesn’t need a catchweight anymore since he weighed 150-pounds to Pacquiao’s 148-pounds on fight night.
I talked to many of my boxing buddies about it and they agree, it would help boost pay-per-view buys if they had the guy who arguably beat Manny Pacquiao and got robbed as the co-main event. The opponent I think would be best for Juan Manuel is Sugar Shane Mosley, who Pacquiao beat by decision. I recall Mosley telling reporters and fans that if you put Marquez in the ring with him it wouldn’t be a fair fight, and Marquez told reporters that if you give him the fighters Pacquiao beat like Mosley, Cotto, and Margarito he would look great too, well since Juan Manuel is bigger and stronger and has proven himself at 150-pounds, taking Pacquiao’s best punches while Shane was dropped by Pacman this would be an equal match-up.
Marquez and Mosley have both fought Mayweather and Pacquiao and both are nearing 40-years-old. The style match up will be interesting because Mosley would have no choice but to try and press the counter punching Marquez. If Marquez wins it would sensationally against Mosley it would help him make a case for a rematch with the winner of Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather.
